Create a treatment
A treatment is a bookable service — something a client can book that has a duration and, when you sell it, a price. It is one half of online booking: your resources say who is available, your treatments say what they can be booked for. This guide walks you from an empty editor to a live service, using one worked example: a 60-minute massage at CHF 120, offered in person.
Before you start
- You need Manage access to Configuration & settings; without it the Treatments page is read-only.
- The Treatments module must be switched on (Configurations > Organisation, Modules tab), and the organisation needs at least one standard resource to offer the treatment. Create it first with Create a resource if you have none.
- For prices, the Payments module must be on and your VAT rates configured (see Set up your organisation).
Open the treatment editor
Go to Treatments and click Add treatment (the plus button). The editor opens full-screen with two tabs, Treatment and Fields. Everything below lives on the Treatment tab; the Fields tab comes last.
Set the status, name and slug
At the top is the online/offline switch. A new treatment starts as Treatment offline, meaning it is hidden from clients — leave it there until the rest is filled in, then flip it to Treatment online to publish. Only online treatments can be booked.
Enter the Name (required, up to 50 characters). For our example, type 60-Minute Deep Tissue Massage. Next to it is an optional Slug, the short code used in web links — it accepts only letters, digits, hyphens and underscores, up to 50 characters. Type deep-tissue-60, or leave it blank. You cannot save until both the Name and the Duration are filled in.
Choose the appointment types
Use the Appointment types toggle to say how the service is delivered: Physical, Video, or Both. For a hands-on massage, pick Physical. If you also offer remote consultations, create a separate treatment that can actually be delivered by video; choose Both only when that same service is available in either format. This toggle only appears when video appointments are available to your organisation, or the treatment already has a video appointment type; it is also hidden for group organisations, which do not set a per-treatment scope. Everything else a video treatment needs is in Run video appointments.
When a treatment supports Both, the client sees a physical/video choice on the booking page; a Physical-only or Video-only treatment shows no choice.
Set the duration
Enter the Duration in minutes (minimum 1; a new treatment starts at 30). Type 60. This is the block of time reserved in the scheduler whenever the treatment is booked — a 60-minute massage holds a 60-minute slot.
Note the cascade: if resources already offer this treatment, changing its duration, appointment types or online/offline status flows through to every one of those resources when you save — change these deliberately on a live service. Appointments already booked keep their times. Marking a treatment for deletion cascades the same way, removing it everywhere it is offered.
Add the price
The Price, VAT rate and Price description fields appear only when the Payments module is enabled for your organisation. If your organisation does not sell online, you will not see them at all, and you can skip to the next step.
With Payments on, enter a Price of 120. A price of 0 (or an empty price) makes the booking free.
The VAT rate toggle offers your organisation's configured rates (for a new treatment the first rate is preselected), but the rate charged on a treatment booking is the VAT rate of the resource the client books, set in that resource's Attributes table. For a Swiss standard-rate service, check that each resource offering the massage has 8.1% there. A resource without a VAT rate charges 0 % VAT.
Add texts, images and tags
Two optional short labels (up to 50 characters each) sit beside the numbers: a Duration description and, when Payments is on, a Price description. They are saved but currently not shown on the booking site, so you can leave them empty.
Below them, the multi-language Texts editor holds a Heading, Sub heading and Description in each of your organisation's languages. The booking site's treatment card shows the heading — or the name, when the heading is empty — and the description. For the example, set the heading to Deep tissue massage and the description to Firm pressure on back, neck and shoulders. Please arrive five minutes early.
Add a Profile picture and, optionally, a Pan picture under Images > Add (the plus button). The first picture you save is the one the treatment card shows; Add images and promotional video explains the crop, the size limits and how to replace a picture. Add any Tags you want for grouping and search (for example massage, wellness).
Fields and saving
The Fields tab offers a Use field checkbox per client field. In the current version a selection made there is not stored and the booking site does not use it for treatment bookings, so skip this tab: to ask clients something when they book the massage, select the field on the booking template's Fields tab (see Configure checkout fields).
Back in the toolbar, click Save. Closing the editor without saving discards everything after a Discard changes? question.
To remove an existing treatment later, open it and click Mark for deletion (the trash icon) in the toolbar. The mark is set at once, without a confirmation question; the form locks and a warning banner confirms the mark. Click Save to commit — the treatment is soft-deleted, not erased. Click the icon again (or close the editor) before saving to cancel.
Make it bookable
A treatment on its own is a menu item with no one to perform it. To put it in front of clients, open the resource who offers it (Resource details), go to that resource's Treatments tab, and tick this treatment. In the same row choose whether the booking card shows the duration (Show duration) and the price (Show price); both start unticked. Drag the rows to set the order of the treatments on the resource's page. Save the resource.
That completes the booking chain your customer walks through: on the booking page they pick a resource, then the treatment it offers, then a free time. Set the status to Treatment online, link it to at least one resource, and your 60-minute massage is live.
Check the result on the booking site
Open the booking page of a template that includes the resource and reload it. Choose the resource: the massage appears as a card with its picture, heading, description and — if ticked — duration and price. Choose it and check that free times of 60 minutes are offered.
If the treatment does not appear:
- Check that the treatment is Treatment online and saved.
- Check that it is ticked on the resource's Treatments tab and that the resource itself is online.
- Check the resource's Availability tab: without any rule at least as long as the treatment, the resource does not offer the treatment at all; without such a rule on a weekday, that day has no free times.
- Check that the booking template includes the resource (template Resources tab).
- A resource that belongs to an aggregator is offered both on its own and through the aggregator.
- Check the booking template's Booking UI mode: treatments are offered only in Session picker. Calendar grid, the default for a new template, shows sessions only.
If the price is missing, check Show price on the resource's Treatments tab and that the Payments module is on.
